Barbarians RUFC

The Barbarians Rugby Union Football Club (the “Baa‑Baas”) of Armidale, NSW, is a spirited and inclusive club competing in the New England Rugby First Grade competition since 2006.

Boasting both men’s and women’s senior sides, the Barbarians bring skillful, passionate rugby to their home ground at Alcatraz , training regularly and hosting key fixtures like the annual Charity Shield against Armidale Blues

Beyond the field, the club is strongly community‑focused—partnering with local causes like Can Assist, running the fan‑favourite meat raffles, events and fundraising, plus fostering a strong club culture built on camaraderie, family and belonging

Demon Knights FC

The Demon Knights Football Club in Armidale, NSW, is a dynamic and inclusive community sports club that fields teams across all ages—from under-6s through to women’s premier league and men’s 1st Grade—under the Northern Inland Football umbrella.

The club is celebrated for producing spirited, skillful footballers who bring intensity, teamwork, and flair to every match, with their senior sides regularly competing in local leagues and the Australia Cup preliminaries..

Yet even more striking is their culture of fun and camaraderie: junior presentation days, social events like their legendary meat raffles, and evening community gatherings foster strong connections among players, families, and volunteers .

The Demon Knights’ enduring commitment to excellence, community engagement and inclusive enjoyment makes them a standout presence in Armidale sport and life.

Armidale City Cricket Club

Armidale City Cricket Club (operating as Armidale City/UNE within the Armidale District Cricket Association) is a welcoming, skilled and community‑focused cricket club based at Bellevue Oval in Armidale, NSW

The club fields competitive senior sides in both One Day and T20 formats, with recent success including 1st Grade and T20 titles, showcasing players renowned for their passion, grit and on‑field flair.

Beyond performance, the club prioritises fostering camaraderie and inclusivity—bringing together players of all ages and backgrounds, from seasoned veterans to enthusiastic newcomers, in a supportive family‑oriented environment

Barbarians Netball Club

The Barbarians Netball Club (Barbets) in Armidale, NSW, is a vibrant team of skilled, passionate women who combine sharp on-court performance with a strong sense of fun, excellence, and community. Known for their fearless gameplay, tight teamwork, and infectious energy, the Barbets create an inclusive and supportive culture both on and off the court.

The St Kilda Hotel is proud to be sponsoring the 2025 Breaking Barriers Story Telling Award, which is for a creative work (film writing performance art) that has powerfully challenged stereo types and amplified rural voices.
